Almost 30 Chinese and/or Hungarian organization, institute or educational institute dealing with the promotion of Chinese language and culture came to the festival at the invitation of the Chinese Cultural Center. The guests were welcomed by various colorful programs such as Chinese calligraphy, tea tasting, kung-fu, table tennis and mediball performances, traditional Chinese medicine, etc. More than ten thousand visitors looked up the festival during the day to get acquainted with Chinese culture, and also to welcome the Horse Year in the company of Far-East and Hungarian friends, artists, acrobats, musicians and martial arts.

This year again the colleagues of SZTE Confucius Institute awaited visitors with exciting programs: guests could get an insight view of Chinese calligraphy and could learn how to paint their own Chinese Zodiacs; kids were able to learn how to paint cute pandas only with some simple brush strokes; the youngest could grab crayons and paint their favorite Chinese opera masks; the elderly could participate in a Chinese lampion quiz-game! In the Horse Year too, SZTE Confucius Institute’s “transformation-corner” proved to be the most popular and most successful program: many visitors were inspired to try on our brand new traditional Chinese costumes! Those who were interested in a much tranquil program, the Director of the Institute, Lívia Szentmártoni welcomed everyone to her lecture titled “Our everyday (d)ilemmas in China.”

Our Institute’s stand was also visited by Xiao Qian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Hungary: together with the visitors, he tried to answer all the smart questions what were posed by our Institute.

The cherry on top of the cake was the performance of the world famous music band called Henan, which made the beginning of the Horse Year unforgettable.
